I used the app on my iphone called World Nomads. Its great with very basic short sentences. Enough for me to count, ask how much, and say no pork, airport, toilet, hospital (for our conference) and doctor (to explain we are medical students).

Owh point to note : there are 2 numbering systems in Korea, the native-Korean and Sino-Korean and you HAVE to learn both.

The basic currency is 10,000 won, and everything is priced and mentioned in relation to it.

10,000 won is referred as man-won.

If something is 12k won, it will be said as man-yi won

If it is 20k, it will be said as yi-man won
